A very interesting video came across my feeds today called Alanna Krause: Inventing a New Organizational Operating System.
Alanna talks about the Enspiral Network, a collective of social businesses which strikes me as very similar to our very own Agile Learning Centers Network. They have been creating open source tools for management that they developed for their own network, much like we do within out network. It’s an inspiring video and I highly recommend you watch it.
One of the tools they created, through collaboration with the Occupy movement, is called Loomio (loomio.org). This tool is being used by many groups all over the world, in particular it’s being used by podemos in Spain to make decisions about the political party’s policies.
I’ve created a loomio group for Agile Learning Centers, please request membership and let’s start playing with this new tool. (I’ve added this as a proposal on the network Change Up board).
Another tool Alanna touches on is a group budgeting software called Cobudget (cobudget.co) which might also be an interesting tool to use.
I’m very inspired by this talk and seeing that other people on the other side of the world are working through some of the same problems that we are and will face. It also comes at a very interesting time because I have been asked to consult the grass roots organizing around the Bernie Sanders 2016 presidential organization. Which I will be sharing my knowledge of these tools as well as some of the tools we have developed through ALC.
What an exciting time to be alive!
